Gary West points out that this famous recording seems to crop up frequently. It certainly is a superb performance, of what is generally accepted to be one of the most difficult tunes in the piobaireachd repertoire. Everyone has a different way of playing piobaireachd, but Jack’s use of tempo is particularly fine in my opinion – listen to how he slows at the end of the tuorluath and crunluath doubling variations.
There is no known Laird of Anapool nor a place of that name, though there is a place called Unapool in the North-West of Sutherland.
