Wellington Pipers’ Club Revival Announced

Ross Hanning, the President of the Wellingotn Pipers’ Club, today announced that the Club would be trialling a new format, copied from the  Eagle Pipers Club in Edinburgh. He advised that the next club night will be held on Thursday 11 November at 7.00pm. The features of the new format would be:

  • Regular monthly week night meetings (excluding December and January)
  • Structured programme from 7.30pm – 9.3-pm to include up to 6 players interspersed with periods of fellowship and announcements.  The players will, it is hoped, include pipers of all levels, learners, veterans and competing soloists playing short selections with a concluding longer item.
  • The proposed first new style meeting will be Thursday 11th  November 2010 at the City of Wellington Pipe Band Hall in Hanson street, Wellington   Meetings will recommence on   10 February 2011 and on the second Thursday of each month thereafter.

Entry fee is $5 for non club member and no charge to club members.
The Clubs annual City of Wellington Cup competition will be held on Thursday 11th November. This trophy, donated to the club by PM Allan Guild, is a slow march and march competition and is open to any non A grade player who is a member of a band.  The judge for the event will be John Hanning of Wellington.  This event will commence at 7.00pm to be followed by the Pipers’ Club programme as above. There is no entry fee for this event.
