Wellington Details Piobaireachd Seminar: 12 & 13 May

Venue: Scots College Wellington. 1 Monorgan Road, Strathmore, Wellington.  Ground floor of the new arts block – entrance alongside the assembly hall directly from the carpark.

Time 9.15am to 4.30pm both days.

What to bring.

  • Pipes, chanter, a positive attitude.
  • Something to drink and food for the day (there will be nothing supplied) – there will be time to go to the Strathmore shops for lunch if you would prefer to buy something.

Payment if you haven’t already done it online. If you are already a member of CNP then the cost is $30.  If not a member of CNP then you will need to pay a $25 joining fee as well (ie $55 in total).  For the learner group who are doing Sunday only the cost is $15 plus $25 membership.
We will focus on some of the 2013 Gold and Silver Medal tunes, and provide music for these.  You are also welcome to bring your own music if there is a particular tune you would like some help with.

Draft Programme.

9.15 – Meet and introductions

9.30 – Break into Gold and Silver Medal groups to run over the tunes.  Everyone will choose a tune to learn; if you make good progress you could aim to learn two or more tunes over the weekend.

10.30- Break

10.50 – 12.30 One on one sessions and individual learning time.

1.30 – Group session – sing over the tunes.

2.00 – One on One sessions and individual learning time.

3.00 – Break

3.15 – Performance, discussion and feedback.

4.30 – Finish.

Sunday’s programme will be similar with the addition of a learner group covering Struan Robertson’s Salute.

Recordings.

Members of CNP will have access to recordings of the tunes (singing, explaining and playing by top pipers) through the CNP website.  Once you have paid let me know so I can send you the password.
